Experience Matters

I’ve been surfing for over 35 years and have always been one of the most stoked guys in the water. If I am not working I usually average 6 to 8 hours in the water.

I have surfed all over the world and have experienced plenty of 5 star go outs.

I was introduced to stand up paddle surfing two years ago. I noticed that some of the top watermen that I have always admired now almost exclusively were doing the sport of stand up surfing. I wanted to give it a try so I bought my first board. It was 12 ft by 26 in. wide. I struggled on this board for a full year but never gave up. Then I bought my second 12 ft board. It was 27 in. wide with a flatter bottom and was much easier to ride. Then I was introduced to a 10’10” by 28 in wide Wave Rod. I was instantly set free. I have had more fun riding this board possibly then any board I have ever owned.

I love to go what I call cross country surfing paddling from one break to the next surfing 5 or 6 different breaks in one go out. I surf lots of outer reefs now where no one surfs. At age 51 I’ve redefined my stoke in surfing. It’s a core workout and I feel great. If you love the sport of surfing- I recommend you give a Wave Rod a try.

Aloha,
Dave
